Should you care if others are unemployed?

Are you rich? Do you have your own company? Or maybe you have a good paid secure job? Maybe even a government job? If you answered one of these questions yes, many people will envy you. Today lots of people are without jobs or working on low paid insecure jobs. So should you be worried about it? Should you care at all? The answer is Yes.

You can think that you are better than the others, more hard-working type or whatever. Or maybe you can say that you were just lucky. But whatever you think is the reason for your good life you should be worried because unemployment rate is high. Why?

1) Economy is Getting Worse

Unemployed people spend less money. Less spending means less products being sold and companies having lower production levels. Less new firms are being opened. Consequently, whole economy slows down leaving you with less comfortability and less good products.  For example, your favorite nearby shop might have to close in order to cut costs, forcing you to travel further to go shopping.

Also, unemployed people working skills are deteriorating. Deteriorating skills cause less productivity at a future job.

2) Illegal Activity Increases

For some people becoming a part of grey or black economy is the only chance to earn money. Grey or black economy also presents an illegal competition to legal jobs.
Furthermore, it has been proven that crime rates increase in times of unemployment.

 3) Social Conflicts

Deteriorating economic conditions will anger people, and they will start looking for someone to blame. Among accused are usually foreigners and immigrants, but it can be any social group depending on specific conditions. As a consequence aggression toward other social groups increases.

4) Less Democracy

High unemployment in Germany after First World War is said to be one of the causes which helped Hitler to get power.
